L3Harris Technologies received a five-year contract extension to continue delivering MyFloridaNet-2 (MFN-2), a private communications network providing a highly available and reliable statewide communication infrastructure across the state of Florida. MFN-2 is available for state government and other eligible users, including county and city governments, water management districts, public school districts, private K-12 schools, libraries, universities, community colleges, and non-profit organizations.
MFN-2 has been built through a multi-year contract with the Florida Department of Management Services, beginning in 2016.
"We began the MFN-2 partnership to build a state-wide communications infrastructure that connects state and local agencies, schools, and libraries so they can work together seamlessly and efficiently,” said Kathy Crandall, President, Mission Networks. “We are honored to continue this service for the state of Florida.”
MFN-2 connects more than 4,100 sites in Florida across its statewide area network, supporting regional metropolitan area networks and wide area networks, in addition to providing related telecommunication services with dedicated 24-hour support. Through flat-rate pricing and flexible contract terms, the MFN-2 network delivers speeds up to 200Gbs with redundant gateway routing to limit disruptions and outages.
The MFN-2 enterprise infrastructure is based on a proven Multi-Protocol Label Switching technology, providing cutting edge security and robust network connectivity. Users of the MFN-2 network benefit from robust managed services offered by L3Harris, including dedicated Network Operations Centers (NOC). The NOCs, located in Melbourne, FL, provide proactive network monitoring, troubleshooting support, IP address management, performance monitoring and reporting, and continuous monitoring of network security and incident response.
Additionally, the MFN-2 network supports the E-Rate program, available to schools and library systems to ensure they have affordable access to advanced telecommunications services. Through assigned Florida E-Rate Coordinators, documentation is easily filed with the state, allowing school systems and libraries to receive discounted services without submitting and awarding new Requests for Proposal.
Watch for new technology updates as L3Harris continues to deliver MyFloridaNet-2 — the powerful and cost-effective statewide communications network supporting Florida’s state agencies, counties, schools, and libraries.
