EFI-650 Electronic Flight Instrument System

Product overview

As a simple plug-and-play replacement for aging CRTs, the EFI-650 drastically reduces weight, lowers power consumption and offers significantly improved reliability over legacy systems; therefore improving pilot flight experiences and reducing life-cycle operating costs for business and regional jet operators.

  • Form/Fit/Function Replacement — requires no aircraft modifications
  • Eliminates Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) and high-voltage power supply for improved reliability
  • Advanced Thomas ADA 2.0 display processing technology from Thomas Global Systems

Key Features

Versatile and compact

The EFI-650 uses the latest-generation Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD) technology and solid-state LED backlighting, reducing maintenance costs and eliminating obsolescence concerns associated with aging CRTs. Additionally, drop-in installation is quick and easy—no changes to the cockpit panel, LRU-mounting, mating connectors, wiring, electrical interfaces or other interfacing equipment (SGU) are required. The EFI-650 provides a growth pathway for future enhancements and display functionality such as ADS-B, graphical weather, Satellite-based Augmentation System (SBAS) approach, and windshear annunciation.

Reliable, lighter, less expensive

With a 50% lighter LCD display over standard CRTs, the EFI-650 not only reduces operational costs, it also provides outstanding screen clarity and brightness for pilots. Additionally, reliability is dramatically enhanced, offering a 50% mean-time between failures (MTBF) improvement over CRTs at >25,000 hours. The much-improved reliability translates into reduced maintenance costs, operational disruptions and risk of AOGs, as well as the need for spares.
