CANBERRA, Australia  — L3Harris Technologies (NYSE:LHX), as part of the Northrop Grumman Australia team bidding for the JP9102 program, has tendered a ground solution that will provide significant growth in capability and upgradeability over existing systems, while occupying the same ground footprint.

The L3Harris Australian Wide Multi-Band Terminal (WMBT) solution with simultaneous dual polarization delivers twice the bandwidth of the company’s existing wideband terminal. WMBT will support Geostationary (GEO) satellites upon installation and can be upgraded to incorporate both Low-Earth Orbit and Medium-Earth Orbit satellite connections to provide the Australian Defence Force with a scalable terminal that can seamlessly grow to support current and future missions.

“Our WMBT solution provides a capability for the Australian Defence Force that goes beyond simple situational awareness and facilitates the bandwidth for true situational understanding, with a more-robust view of the battlespace,” said Alan Callaghan, President and Managing Director of L3Harris Communications Australia. “Situational understanding gives the ADF a significant mission execution advantage, and I am proud to be part of a company that has been providing leading-edge tactical communications capabilities to defense for over 25 years.”

The WMBT solution’s redundant telemetry, tracking and control links provide monitoring, tracking and tasking of a sovereign satellite communications capability 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As part of the program, L3Harris will provide maintenance, engineering support, training and repairs on Australian soil with supply chain security based at the newly renovated L3Harris Integration and Sustainment Centre in Brisbane.

“L3Harris Technologies Australia and Northrop Grumman Australia have strengthened the partnership in teaming on JP9102, providing a foundation to additional opportunity for collaboration and growing sovereign capability,” said Alan Clements, Managing Director, L3Harris Technologies Australia.
