Why is engineering important to the world?

Engineering is the creative and practical output of human ingenuity. Almost everything we touch has been planned, designed, optimized, and built by a team of people striving to make the best solution possible. To this effect, engineers are responsible for establishing the foundation of modern society and orchestrating the possibilities of the future! I honestly believe that human potential is limitless when engineering and teamwork combine.

Why do you like what you do?

I have an undeniable passion for design and product development. More specifically, I love creating compact products that people can physically interact with, and I love that our products help our end user.

What are some common misconceptions or myths about engineers?

I think even engineers erroneously think they are not artistic. In my opinion, however, that could not be further from the truth. Art and engineering both utilize talent and learned skills to create, fix or improve something. It is an inherently creative endeavor that can be expressed through different media. We should embrace it and harness our creativity to push the boundaries of respective domains!

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I spend my time making stained glass pieces or planning overly-detailed adventures to different countries. I enjoy exploring new places, eating new food, and squeezing in as much as humanly possible. While the novelty of new places is fun and exciting, I will always love going on local hikes to the White Mountains with my husband, Adam, and dog, Dexter.
