During Engineers Week, we shine a spotlight on the hard work and exceptional accomplishments that our L3Harris engineers deliver every day. We asked some of them to share how they're innovating with purpose through their roles at our company.
Engineer Spotlights
Jacob Castle, Quality Engineer
"I began my career at L3Harris as a quality engineer in tooling calibration, and now I’m taking on more responsibility as a supervisor in quality management. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for the amazing people who helped me along the way and the sense of duty instilled by my dad's military service. To be able to contribute to our country’s defense, as he did, fills me with pride and purpose beyond the job description."
Jasleen Chahal, Software Engineer
"After college, it was important to me to use engineering to make a real-world impact. Now as an embedded software engineer and scrum master supporting mission-critical public communications, we build systems that first responders rely on. When hurricanes take down communication, when fires trap crews – communication is the difference between life and loss. I feel like I’m truly turning curiosity into impact at L3Harris."
Jessica Rogers, Structural Engineer
"I work in the Airworthiness Group that supports certification of multiple types of aircraft to meet both Federal Aviation Administration and military requirements. One of my proudest accomplishments has been contributing to various projects that support our United States government and military. Contributing to projects that strengthen national defense and protect those in service is both a responsibility and an honor."
Kaleb Palmer, Systems Engineer
“My path to engineering began in the military, where I maintained systems in real mission environments. That carried forward into a role at L3Harris as an aerospace technician, and eventually a systems engineer. Today, I’m helping ensure mission-critical systems for our warfighters meet stringent safety, reliability and performance requirements.”
Melissa Mecca, Project Engineer
“A few years ago, I led a corrective action recommendation team to resolve a critical valve test failure. I assembled a cross-functional group, and we ultimately identified the cause. The fix was effective and lasting, reinforcing the value of persistence and disciplined problem-solving. That’s what engineering is about – solving complex problems with practical, elegant solutions.”
Chastity Brown, Project Engineer
“As mission assurance lead for the NASA Orion audio program, I led efforts to improve efficiency in a way that delivered meaningful results for our customer. Knowing our product would be used by the astronauts during the Artemis missions was incredibly rewarding. Our audio system will connect astronauts to each other, to mission control and to the world – ultimately enabling the nation’s return to the moon and preparing the way for human missions to Mars.”
Rich Schilling, Project Engineer
“I’ll always remember my first assignment as a project engineer at L3Harris. I led a demo for a customer that required a custom solution using modified hardware. With limited resources, everyone on the team pitched in – even running tests in unique locations like mountains and rooftops. This experience taught me the importance of teamwork and the role of a project engineer in enabling success.”
It's Not Magic. It's Engineering.
When we look at a technological feat like a rocket launch, some see magic. Engineers see the blueprint for transforming our future.
At L3Harris, we seek to inspire future generations to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math so they can turn complex problems into breathtaking realities.
