CRAWLEY, U.K. – Air China has selected L3Harris Technologies (NYSE:LHX) to provide a range of pilot training simulators to support the airline’s strategy for growth as the industry prepares for recovery in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
These simulators will enable Air China to provide a more advanced and progressive learning environment for its pilots. The acquisition of the devices is part of Air China’s wider plans to prepare the operations for growth following the impact of COVID-19 on the industry.
L3Harris will provide two A320 full flight simulators (FFS) and one A350 FFS which include the latest technology available, such as an electric motion system and the latest computer architecture, along with one A320 flat panel trainer (FPT). The FFS and enhanced A320 FPT offer greater options for the training teams to utilize the most efficient device for pilots depending on the stage of their training journey. The devices will add to the current L3Harris A320 FFS, which was certified in 2017. The devices will be installed at Air China’s training center in Beijing and will be in operation within 18 months.
“The selection of this range of L3Harris training devices will help to significantly enhance Air China’s training capabilities,” said Alan Crawford, President, Commercial Aviation, L3Harris. “Air China’s latest selection demonstrates the quality of our devices and ongoing support provided.”
