Identifying the needs of safety professionals on the homefront, L3Harris has unveiled its newest radio, the XL Converge 300P. The XL-300P portable radio represents a breakthrough in connectivity and coverage – the first portable radio to deliver both 5G and Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) connectivity in a single device.

The 300P’s predecessor radio, the XL Converge 200P, was adopted by many public safety organizations and federal agencies dating back to 2015. Thanks to L3Harris’ build quality and durability standards, many customers are still reporting for duty with the same radio. That life span speaks to the ingenuity of the radio, which was itself a generation-spanning piece of technology trusted by professionals.
“The XL-300P feature set is not a simple refresh and will prove to be an overwhelming upgrade over the 200P,” said James Potter, Director, Product Management, L3Harris. “A combination of engineering breakthroughs and observed customer need made it clear that we were ready to introduce a new flagship device with heightened capabilities.”
With FIPS 140-3 Level 3 certification, the XL 300P meets the latest U.S. government standards for secure, encrypted communication. The XL-300P radio system delivers intelligent switching between P25, LTE/5G, Wi-Fi and satellite communications networks.
This bespoke solution is designed from the ground up to meet even the most extreme use cases and bridge the coverage gaps that plague rural areas and challenging terrain.

The XL-300P’s full suite of mission-critical communications capabilities is complemented by the customer-preferred ruggedness of our XL Extreme™ 400P model. This includes the textured finish, integrated keypad, improved knob sensitivity and Corning® Gorilla® Glass displays – all certified to strict durability standards.
The XL-300P is currently available to order with customer shipments expected in July 2026. The first software upgrade will follow shortly after the shipping date, with additional updates coming later in 2026.
