L3Harris’ Red Wolf and SKY RAIDER II INTERNATIONAL Showcase Adaptability for Evolving Missions

L3Harris recently demonstrated a test fit of its Red Wolf launched effects vehicle on its SKY RAIDER II INTERNATIONAL aircraft, illustrating how a low-cost, rugged aircraft and a multi-role launched effect could be paired to expand operational flexibility in future missions.

Building on earlier fitting activities, the effort highlights the company’s ability to integrate launched effects such as Red Wolf on the platform, underscoring its capacity to accommodate systems with similar size, weight and power characteristics as mission needs evolve. The demonstration comes as special operations forces increasingly seek platforms capable of deploying long-range cruise missiles and launched effects that can extend their operational reach while maintaining flexibility across diverse mission sets.

“Launched effects like Red Wolf are designed to integrate across a range of platforms to give operators more flexibility in how they execute the mission, whether that's kinetic or non-kinetic effects,” said Quinlan Lyte, President, Advanced Effects, L3Harris. “Efforts like this highlight how those capabilities can be extended on adaptable aircraft such as SKY RAIDER II INTERNATIONAL.”

Designed to operate from remote locations and unimproved runways, SKY RAIDER II INTERNATIONAL provides the endurance and payload capacity needed for extended operations. Paired with launched effects such as Red Wolf, the aircraft can extend its reach beyond the immediate area, enabling operators to deliver effects at a distance while maintaining a persistent presence overhead.

The approach reflects a shift toward more distributed operations. SKY RAIDER II INTERNATIONAL's modular open systems architecture supports the addition of new capabilities over time, while the integrated flight and mission management system helps reduce crew workload. Red Wolf complements that flexibility with long-range engagement capabilities already demonstrated across multiple air and ground platforms.

Together, the systems point to a model in which a single aircraft can adapt in real time, carrying and deploying capabilities based on operational demands.

The effort reflects L3Harris’ focus on delivering flexible, open-architecture solutions that enable affordable mass and give customers more options to adapt quickly and meet evolving mission needs.
