CLIFTON, N.J., Aug. 18, 2026 — L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has been selected by the government of Peru to provide its Viper Shield™ electronic warfare (EW) system for the country’s F-16 Block 70 aircraft program. Viper Shield forms digital armor around the aircraft, which enables pilots to disrupt enemy radars, missiles and electronic threats.
Peru’s purchase of the Viper Shield system will enhance the offensive and defensive capabilities of its new F-16 Block 70 aircraft fleet. Viper Shield supports allied interoperability by equipping Peru with the same advanced EW features as other nations operating the F-16 Block 70.
“We are focused on providing Peru with a low-risk EW solution through the active production line, flight test program and supply chain,” said Christopher Aebli, President, Communications & Spectrum Dominance, L3Harris. “Eight nations have selected Viper Shield, and we’re ramping up to full-rate production of 233 systems.”
L3Harris developed Viper Shield in partnership with Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Air Force. The system has a variety of installation options, including integration into the Block 70/72 aircraft, a retrofit version for previous F-16 blocks and an external pod. Designed to be software-defined and easily upgradeable, Viper Shield capabilities will evolve with the threat environment.
