L3Harris Technologies has completed an international Initial Baseline Review for Meadowlands – the U.S. Space Force’s new electromagnetic warfare (EW) system. This milestone demonstrates the Meadowlands system meets specific needs of international customers, ensuring allied nations can benefit from advanced EW capabilities.
Meadowlands is ground-based and protects satellite communications by disrupting enemy access, providing warfighters with secure and reliable communications across various operational domains.
“Meadowlands addresses growing adversary counterspace threats to provide warfighters with a decisive advantage by temporarily jamming adversary communications during conflict,” said Ed Zoiss, President, Space and Airborne Systems, L3Harris. “We’re proud to support current and future customers in enhancing and developing these critical offensive space capabilities to strengthen regional security.”
The system builds on the success of the L3Harris Counter Communications System (CCS), offering enhanced capabilities to jam a broader range of frequencies. Its compact and mobile design makes it easily deployable and adaptable to evolving operational needs, ensuring flexibility in dynamic conflict environments.
The urgency for capabilities like Meadowlands was underscored by Gen. Chance Saltzman, U.S. Chief of Space Operations, during his April 2025 testimony to the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission. "China’s advancement in space technology, their stated desire to dominate, and Beijing’s disregard for international norms for the responsible use of space make them an incredible danger to U.S. prosperity and security,” he said.
The Meadowlands system represents a vital tool in safeguarding U.S. and allied interests in space, ensuring warfighters maintain a strategic advantage in electromagnetic warfare.
