L3Harris Collaborates with Qatari Shipbuilder Performance Marine to bring Unmanned Surface Vessel Capabilities to the Region

Custom designed and locally manufactured by Performance Marine, Suhail is a 39-foot USV that integrates L3Harris’ ASView™ control system technology. ASView, an open architecture software with artificial intelligence and machine learning embedded, enables unmanned or remote operations from ashore or sea-based control stations to execute pre-planned missions or autonomously adapt to dynamic conditions.

A leader in unmanned and autonomous maritime vehicles and solutions, L3Harris has delivered more than 150 unmanned surface vessels and optionally manned vehicles to defense and commercial customers throughout the world. L3Harris has expertise in platform concept design, build, commissioning, operations and maintenance. Its unmanned surface vessels and solutions come in all shapes and sizes, serving a variety of military, security, offshore energy and scientific missions.

Performance Marine specializes in customized boats and has built high-speed interceptors for the Qatari Special Forces. Its core capabilities were founded on the philosophy to improve upon existing solutions and deliver exceptional service to provide top-quality integrated capabilities to the competitive boating industry.

Together, L3Harris and Performance Marine showcased their integrated solution and proven capabilities to enhance the evolving landscape of maritime technology and growing needs in the region. DIMDEX’s emphasis at the show on the value and operational benefits of USVs, was a clear indicator of the growing demand for unmanned naval solutions as countries explore these capabilities.

USVs are an improved alternative to traditional manned boats. USVs can forward deploy in high-risk missions where concern for the security and safety of the crew is substantial. They enable long-range transits in rough sea conditions and can operate on the surface without putting the crew in harm’s way – revolutionizing seagoing capabilities. USVs have proven to deliver advancements in autonomy for greater situational awareness and improve maritime missions by delivering secure, actionable intelligence, enabling manned-unmanned teaming.

L3Harris’ collaboration with local shipbuilders and partners in Doha is a true testament to our commitment to design integrated solutions that enhance partnerships and deliver interoperable solutions to strengthen maritime security.
