L3Harris has been named to Australia’s Global Supply Chain (GSC) program, an Australian Government initiative designed to facilitate the integration of technology and products from Australian suppliers into the company’s global operations.
Australia’s GSC program, an initiative heralded in the recent Defence Industry Development Strategy, is a collaborative effort between the Australian Government, Australian Industry and the major Defence corporations from U.S., U.K. and Europe – collectively termed “The Primes”.
The program looks to support Australian suppliers competing in international markets and aligning with the industrial participation policies of other nations. The Primes’ efforts to engage Australian suppliers into their global supply chains are impacted by many factors, such as merits of a supplier, fulfilling contractual obligations (offset frameworks being one of the most commonly adopted by other nations), and alignment of capabilities to the Primes’ own capabilities or future strategy. The GSC Program offers funding for training, knowledge transfer and travel to conduct qualification activities. This collaboration will not only boost opportunities for Australian local industry but also enhance L3Harris’ global supply chain with unique, world-class capabilities and the resilience gained through additional sources of assured supply.
“Australia is home to incredible technological advancements and innovations,” said Alan Clements, Vice President, L3Harris Australia. “Through our membership in the GSC program, we are enabling the integration of local products, capabilities and suppliers into our global operations, designed to drive mutual growth and technological superiority."
L3Harris’ entry into the program underscores its dedication to building strong partnerships with Australian suppliers, ensuring a resilient and advanced defence industry for Australia as well as access to new marketplaces in conjunction with the company’s global presence. Australian companies offer a vast array of secure, standards approved products, technologies and capabilities that can be encompassed into L3Harris’ LHX NeXt vision for the future in improving our capabilities, agility and competitiveness.
"At L3Harris, we believe in the power of collaboration,” said Amanda MacKinnell, Head of Program, L3Harris Australia.“This program offers a fantastic opportunity to partner with Australian suppliers, fostering a spirit of innovation and creating economic opportunities that benefit everyone involved."
"Our entry into the Global Supply Chain program is a significant milestone. Together with our Australian partners, we’re set to enhance defence capabilities, ensuring resilient and advanced supply chains that meets the challenges of tomorrow," MacKinnell said.
