Revolutionizing Defense: L3Harris' Advanced Counter-UAS Cutting-Edge Technologies Offer Scalable Solutions for NATO

The proliferation of unmanned autonomous systems (UAS) in warfare demands cost-effective countermeasures. Recent NATO airspace incidents highlight the need for tiered defenses to avoid the impracticality of high-cost responses to low-value drones. Scalable solutions are essential for effective deterrence and defense.

L3Harris' portfolio offers customers unparalleled versatility for effectively countering the growing UAS threat, featuring resilient defensive and offensive capabilities across air, land and sea domains. These advanced solutions offer comprehensive protection and strategic superiority for NATO forces and address both current and emerging challenges in modern warfare.

"Our counter-UAS systems have been rigorously battle-tested, successfully neutralizing hundreds of hostile drone attacks during combat operations," said Ed Zoiss, President of Space and Airborne Systems at L3Harris. "We are fully equipped with proven, purpose-built, scalable and interoperable solutions that address the evolving challenges of modern warfare and are ready for immediate deployment."

L3Harris' portfolio includes CORVUS-RAVEN and Drone Guardian, each designed to provide versatile and effective counter-UAS capabilities across domains. CORVUS-RAVEN integrates advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for passive signal detection and real-time situational awareness. Its onboard jamming system detects, disrupts and disorientates, ensuring robust performance with minimal manpower. Meanwhile, Drone Guardian offers scalable, layered defense strategies that integrate various sensors for threat assessment and disruption.

The wolf pack launched effects platforms – Red Wolf and Green Wolf – enable forces to neutralize hostile drones at the source, shifting from a defensive to an offensive stance. Offering both kinetic and electronic warfare capabilities, the wolf pack can hunt and attack at greater ranges than legacy systems. These affordable platforms are deployable on fixed-wing, rotary-wing, UAV, ground and maritime platforms. Wolf pack effects provide NATO forces with a powerful deterrent for a stable Europe and ensure U.S. system compatibility for coalition interoperability.

VAMPIRE is an affordable, compact ISR and counter-unmanned system (C-UxS) designed to deploy on nearly any platform, vehicle or vessel. Since 2023, it has successfully defeated hundreds of hostile drones in combat operations in Europe. This all-in-one system delivers precision strike capabilities with customizable sensors and weapons, significantly reducing the cost-per-effect and overall cost of ownership. Building on its success, L3Harris has added advanced WESCAM MX-Series electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) targeting sensors, precision weapons, electronic jammers and non-kinetic effectors to the VAMPIRE system. The latest evolution utilizes AI/ML to swiftly detect, engage and defeat elusive unmanned threats. Initially fielded in less than eight months to meet urgent operational needs, VAMPIRE continues to see multiple orders, driving plans to expand our production facility to meet rising demand.

L3Harris’ WESCAM MX-10D RSTA is a highly stabilized targeting and designating EO/IR sensor system for ISR and targeting missions conducted by amphibious, armored combat, reconnaissance and counter-UAS vehicles. These extremely reliable systems provide operators with high-performance multi-spectral imaging and new AI-enabled drone detection capabilities for enhanced situational awareness. WESCAM MX-Series systems are also supported by a new manufacturing facility in Katowice, Poland, enabling rapid delivery and sustained operational readiness.

Additionally, L3Harris’ Nimble Finch and Nimble Finch PRO platforms deliver high-power, efficient jamming capabilities, ensuring mission security and personnel protection. These systems adapt and integrate with third-party technologies, an advantage that underscores their strategic value in the face of evolving threats.

NATO allies can significantly benefit from the advanced, integrated capabilities presented by the L3Harris portfolio, ensuring comprehensive coverage and powerful force protection. As the Trusted Disruptor, L3Harris’ field-proven solutions reflect the readiness to meet and exceed the stringent demands of today's security environment.
